A loft with two souls

June 2008

A contemporary reinterpretation of a simple yet diffused structure: the “terraced/row house”.

Externally camouflaged by adjacent buildings, inside airy and dynamic. This house/home is given a new life thanks to a new order of spaces, obtained by knocking down some internal partitions that stifled movement.

A few clever devices and particular attention to the choice of materials and details confer new character: rising in the open space is a luminous totem in burnished glass with the dual function of parapet for the stairs to the night zone and a lighted source of atmosphere for the evening. The largest wall of the living room, papered with an optical fantasy, is enhanced by a fireplace in rust-coloured metal sheet.

The flow between living room, dining area and kitchen is given by the choice of a plain-colour flooring in cement-effect resin. This “carpet” is ideal for the play of sofas plus furnishings of minimalist and contemporary design, without renouncing a note of character.
